Each year, Del Mar Dog Beach turns into one of the happiest places on earth as dogs of every breed and size paddle out to catch some waves during the Helen Woodward Animal Center’s Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon. From little pups with big confidence to seasoned canine surfers, these four-legged wave riders hit the ocean to raise funds and spread pure joy.

The 20th Surf-A-Thon on September 7, 2025 brought even more excitement. Crowds gathered to watch dogs compete on their boards, strut around in creative costumes, and soak up the cheers from fans along the shore.
